Raptor Shift Light Install-Kawasaki ZX14

2006-2011 ZX14R

Engine speed signal: No tach signal at cluster. Must be read from any (but only one) of the four ignition coils. These wires run from the ECU to each coil.

Coil #1 - white/red stripe
Coil#2 - white/blue stripe
Coil#3 - white/green stripe
Coil#4 - white/yellow stripe

Connect the green wire of the shift light to only one of these.

Switched +12 Volts: Connect red wire of shift light to a switched 12 volts (power when key is in and on). There is switched power on the back of the gauge cluster. The wire color is brown with white stripe.

Ground: Connect the black wire of the shift light to the ground of the bike. There is a ground wire on the back of the gauge cluster. The wire color is black with yellow stripe.

Vehicle speed signal: Can be read from the gauge cluster. This wire runs from speed sensor to ECU and gauge cluster and it is a blue wire with yellow stripe. The color is yellow on the sensor itself but changes color at the connector and becomes blue with yellow stripe.  For dual mode shift lights, connect the white wire of the shift light to this wire.

2012-2014 ZX14R

Engine speed signal: No tach signal at cluster. Must be read from any (but only one) of the four ignition coils. These wires run from the ECU to each coil.

Coil #1 - white/red stripe
Coil#2 - white/blue stripe
Coil#3 - white/green stripe
Coil#4 - white/yellow stripe

Connect the green wire of the shift light to only one of these above.

Vehicle speed signal: This wire runs from the rear wheel speed sensor to ECU, black plug, pin #34 (left plug as your sitting on bike) and it is a black wire with orange stripe.  For dual mode shift lights, connect the white wire of the shift light to this wire. In 2012 Kawasaki changed from a transmission mounted speed sensor, to a front and rear wheel speed sensor.

Switched 12VDC Power: You can get a switched 12 volts behind the gauge cluster on the main 20 pin connector. Pin #9 (brown wire with white stripe) or you can choose to get 12 volts from another source.

Ground: You can get a ground behind the ngauge cluster on the main 20 pin connector. Pin #12 (black witre with yellow stripe) or you can choose to simply tie the black wire of the shift light to the frame.

Notes:
-Set the shift light to "1" cylinder mode if using the dual mode light that has upper rpm limit of 20,000 RPM and program the rpm setpoint directly 1:1.
-If using the single mode light with upper rpm limit of 9900, set it to "2" cylinder mode and then program the rpm setpoint by 1/2.

**CAUTION**If using the output option for auto-shift during installation, program the shift light first, and then hook up output from shift light (brown wire) to avoid shifting into gear un-expectantly during initial programming. THE SHIFT LIGHT WILL GROUND THE BROWN WIRE WHEN IT HITS THE SETPOINT. We also recommend a small toggle switch inline with the brown wire to disable/enable auto-shifting.
